Wood Fence Maintenance

Wood fence maintenance in the coastal areas. High humidity and salt air are harsh conditions even for treated lumber. We recommend waiting three to six months before sealing or staining your fence.
At that time, you can test the wood to see if the treatment is completely dry by sprinkling a droplet of water in the wood. If the wood absorbs the water then your fence is ready to be power washed on both sides and then either sealed or stained after a 24 hour drying period. If the water beads up illustrated in the picture above then you should wait until the wood is fully dried out from the chemical preservation treatment.
